an obstinate creature of greed
willing to corrupt the innocuous maiden
alas, the goal is not gold in heaps
but perverse suffering

exploiting horrid despair and want
ascending creaking stairs just to see
hopeless enslavement to serve the king
life's dwindling and dissolving

offered a pact to aid her in need

third night approaching.. the child within
a poisonous deed

a deed too vile, too high a price
must get out, outwit the imp
persuade him to reason with us
or else, she must pay for those sins

to uncover secrets hidden therein

in the damp embrace of slimy circled stones
of old times long gone

demented features
